CT/ X-Ray Technician

  • Reviews patient's medical history prior to performing CT and X-Ray procedures & confirms that patient has signed a contrast media consent form
  • Positions patient on examination table & monitors patient's condition during examination
  • Introduces intravenous contrast material as directed by radiologist
  • Controls & adjusts CT and X-Ray equipment to assure that images meet requirements
  • Maintains equipment & examination room

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 1 year of experience as a CT and Radiology Tech in a hospital
  • Valid CPR
  • CA RHB license and Fluoroscopy required
  • ARRT advanced certification in X-Ray and CT required

Overall, the manager of this department will need to ensure a safe and efficient operation plus regulatory and accreditation compliance while promoting quality customer service.

Responsibilities include:

  • Evaluate staff according to hospital policies/procedures and conduct disciplinary action as needed in accordance with personnel guidelines
  • Accreditation of the department for Ultrasound, Echo and Vascular modalities
  • Coordinate with Sleep Services of America (SSA) to facilitate sleep services within the hospital
  • Review and improve patient waiting areas and experience to ensure efficiency and quality
  • Monitor the quality of ultrasound images and provide education and guidance as necessary
  • Manage information with the PACS/RIS administrators
  • Oversee personnel schedule to minimize overtime and workload
  • Procure capital equipment and ensure appropriate and safe functionality of equipment

To qualify, you must possess a Bachelor’s degree in the Radiologic Sciences, Business or Healthcare Administration with at least three to five years of supervisor experience and be registered with the ARDMS in Vascular, Echocardiography. Registry in ultrasound is preferred. Maintaining a calm demeanor under pressure with the ability to multitask and understand patient needs is necessary for this position.

The Bassett Healthcare Network is an integrated health care delivery system that provides care and services to an eight county region covering 5,600 square miles in upstate New York. Under the supervision of the Coordinator for Diagnostic Radiology and working at the direction of the Radiology Manager, the Radiology Technologist provides prompt, efficient, courteous services to patients while taking high-quality radiographs. This individual must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. They must also have the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements and provide the care needed.

Minimum requirements include a high school diploma/GED. New graduates must have satisfactory completion of formal radiology technology training in an AMA approved school and must have a NYS Temporary Permit. AART Registered as a Radiologic Technologist and NYS Registered as a Radiologic Technologist required within 180 days from date of hire. Radiology Technologists must be AART and NYS Registered as a Radiologic Technologist.

Requirements:

  • Graduation from an accredited school of ultrasonography to include education for general, perinatal and vascular procedures.
  • Recent hospital experience as a vascular and general sonographer or recent graduate of an accredited school.
  • Familiarity with AIUM standard OB exam.
  • Must have the following registries: RVT, RDMS Ob/Gyn, RDMS Abdomen.

GEN. SUMMARY:

Produces high quality radiographs, while providing professional and quality care to patients. Ensures that radiographs are taken in accordance with State regulations, and in conjunction with "as low as reasonably achievable" (ALARA) principle. Able to operate all equipment, including direct radiography (DR), computed radiography (CR), fluoroscopy, diagnostic room, and portable and C-arm machines. Able to perform variety of exams in department and Operating Room (OR). Identifies care needs of patients and significant others, and implements interventions and utilizes equipment necessary to meet specific needs of patient population served, including neonate, infant, pediatric, young adult, middle adult, and late adult.

LICENSURES:

1. Certification from American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), or Registry eligible.

2. Licensed by State of Maryland.

3. BLS Healthcare Provider certification from American Heart Association.

SKILLS:
