DESCRIPTION:To provide diagnostic services in a hospital and/or clinical setting, to include clerical duties as required. To perform all duties in a manner that promotes team concepts and reflects the Mission and philosophy of the hospital.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Performing diagnostic radiological procedures, utilizing diagnostic radiographic equipment. Using skills and abilities required for age of patient served to include: routine, emergent, portable, surgical and fluoroscopic examinations in accordance with department policies and procedures.
• Image processing. Understands, use the current RIS and PACS system. Work under the supervision of radiologist on an as needed basis. Work with radiologist: on film Quality Assurance, exam clarification. Perform ECG (As required).
• Patient/transport. File work. Restocking supplies/cleaning. Responsible for patient registration and patient scheduling.
• Participate in an on-call or standby schedule as required. Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:
• High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.


LICENSURES

• Board of Medical Imaging License in state where assigned.
• American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Providers required.

SUMMARY:

The Radiology Technologist performs all radiographic procedures while under the general supervision of a licensed practitioner for the purposes of diagnosis and/or treatment of anatomic and physiologic disorders at a technical level not requiring constant supervision and within the scope of their license.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs all radiographic procedures and administration of contrast media with appropriate application of technical and positioning protocols, safety procedures, radiation protection, and proper image identifying criteria according to department policy and procedure.
  • Verifies physician orders for instructions from requesting physician and consults with the radiologists as necessary. Explains procedure and provides education as appropriate.
  • Performs equipment warm up, calibration and safety check. Operates hospital computer system. Reports to supervisor any equipment malfunctions. Prepares/operates equipment in accordance with manufacturer guidelines for appropriate quality control.
  • Responsible for departmental records. Accurately and promptly documents in departmental records (film, file and computer) patient name, exam date, film/image markers, clinical history, complaints, allergies, etc Reports reactions, complications, changes in condition etc. to radiologist, physician, supervisor, peers and nursing unit as necessary.
  • Performs ECG’s, Phlebotomy (e.g. sample collection, venous access for contrast administration), and DEXA Bone Densitometry and may also be required to complete patient registration and/or scheduling as required by the site/service.

QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE:

Graduate of an approved program in Radiologic Technology. Two years of radiologic experience preferred.

LICENSURES:

Current Illinois Emergency Management Agency/Illinois Division of Nuclear Safety (IEMA/IDNS) license in the appropriate modality is required. Registered and certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (AART). CPR certification preferred.

In this role, the seasoned professional we seek will be responsible for managing the technical staff in an active clinical and research environment at the University of Chicago Hospitals. Our advanced CT Department utilizes 8 scanners and includes 28 front line CT Technologists that work in our outpatient facility, the Mitchell Hospital Pavilion, the Center for Care and Discovery and Comer Children's Hospital.

Candidates must be ARRT (CT) registered and have worked as a CT Technologist for at least 3 years with a minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience in CT.

A bachelor's degree is required. A high level of understanding of technical CT operations, superior problem solving and communication skills, and a demonstrated ability to develop a team of committed imaging professionals is a required.

Nursing Project Coordinator RN – Radiology

In this role, you will provide project management analysis, recommendations, and decision support for a broad array of complex clinical nursing and patient care issues. JOB SUMMARY:

The Radiologic Technologist provides Mobile Urology Services to hospitals, surgery centers and clinics for an assigned geographic territory or region. Under the supervision of the treating physician, performs technical procedures and utilizes ionizing radiation as directed by the physician for radiographic diagnosis and positioning. Assist physicians and other hospital staff in the treatment of patients. Maintain accurate medical records or such treatment and performance requirementsof the Federal Motor Carriers Safety Regulations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Travels extensively; covers a large territory.
  • Develops and maintains good business relationships with various physicians and hospital staff. Practices good customer service using cooperativeness and courteousness and
  • maintains ethical and confidential relationships with physicians, hospital staff, HTRN associates and its vendors.
  • Ensures safety of the patient before, during and after the procedure.
  • Interfaces regularly with the Scheduling Department to ensure smooth case load schedules.
  • Demonstrates competence in assisting the Urologist in the identification of calculi and accurately positioning each individual patient and selecting proper technical factors
  • of each during the lithotripsy procedure. Patient Population – neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatrics.
  • Responsible for optimum radiographic equipment function and keeping patient exposures to a minimum without interfering with optimal treatment. Assists other hospital,
  • physician or related ancillary staff as required during procedure.
  • Confirms patient information entered into unit logs is complete and accurate and ensures all procedures performed are properly charged and recorded prior to being sent to
  • the billing office. Submits Daily Treatment Records on a weekly basis.
  • Regularly checks equipment to maintain it is in proper working condition and promptly reports any problems to the Director of Operations. Assists in the scheduling of equipment,
  • tractor and trailer maintenance as required either as an individual or with team members
  • Follows all company related policies in relation to set-up/breakdown of equipment at the beginning and end of each service period.
  • Loads, unloads, and transfers the Lithotripter, corresponding components, and any necessary supplies from the transport vehicle to and from the designated procedure area
  • if applicable.
  • Assists in developing the skills of other staff members and cross-trains in other ancillary areas as requested by the Regional Operations Director.
  • Fully understands and adheres to hospital emergency, safety, infection control and other hospital policies and procedures.
  • Performs other work related duties as required and assigned. Works independently and with minimal supervision.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of a high school graduate or equivalent.
  • Completion of an AMA approved school of radiologic technology.

License:

  • Registered and in good standing with the ARRT or current state Radiologic License(s)/certificate(s) as required by federal and state regulations as well as facilities
  • in which HealthTronics treats.
  • Appropriate state(s) licenses as required by law and operational needs.
  • Maintain and provide evidence of current CPR certification.
  • Annual TB screening required.
  • Maintain and complete current HIPAA training and requirements.
  • Complete and maintaining current company regulatory courses.
  • May be required to possess a Commercial Driver’s License and must have a safe driving record.

Experience:

  • Minimum of one year of experience with general diagnostic duties in the field of Radiology; 3-5 years of experience is preferable.
  • Special procedures background preferred.
  • Moderate computer skills.
  • Knowledge in positioning, technical factors, darkroom technique, processor maintenance and radiation protection.
  • Able to collaborate with internal and external resources and be able to meet schedule and/or deadlines.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Starting and ending times of workdays will vary according to patient scheduling needs.
  • May be required to lift in excess of 50 lbs. several times a day.
  • Will be required to push, carry and pack equipment for all procedures according to manufacturer’s guidelines. There can be a risk to occupational electrical and radiation exposure.
  • A film badge may be required and monitoring of film badge reports and acting as unit R. S. O., as designated. Potential risk or physical injury from electrical equipment malfunction and flammable anesthetics/gases.
  • Must maintain D.O.T. physical standards if applicable.
  • Adheres to the dress code as defined by management and local facilities in accordance with patient care need.
  • Frequent travel inside or outside of assigned geography or region as needed; overnight travel required as needed
